The exhibition is based on the book "With His Majesty King Milan in the East," authored by the king's adjutant and companion Mihailo Rašić.
The exhibition's authors, Dr. Snežana Cvetković and Msr. Dejan Vukelić, cover the personality of Milan Obrenović, his abdication, and the motives for his journey to the Holy Land, his spiritual transformation at Christ's tomb, the perception of the Oriental discourse at the Serbian court, and its influences on shaping the court and court culture in Serbia.
Milan Obrenović decides to embark on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land under the pseudonym "Count of Takovo," accompanied by his closest associates.
"The events of this colorful journey take place from March 17 to June 13, 1889. The Count of Takovo travels by train, ship, postal carriage, and horseback... meeting numerous personalities, and we, inspired by this event, invite you on a museological journey to the East," the exhibition's authors state.
After visiting the exhibition, the gathering continues in the city.
Gathering at 12:30 PM - Museum of Applied Arts (Vuka Karadžića 18)
