Visit to the exhibition „Dragonflies of Serbia”, organized by the Institute for Nature Conservation of Serbia at the Gallery of Science and Technology of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts

The exhibition will showcase the diversity and significance of dragonflies inhabiting our country's territory. The display starts from the earliest written mentions of these insects in the Principality of Serbia recorded in the mid-19th century.

The exhibition illuminates the role of travel writers and early researchers, as well as the emergence of the first scientific papers dedicated to this exceptional group of insects, along with basic taxonomic divisions and highlighted differences among the groups.

Among the exhibited artifacts, one can see exuviae casts, prepared specimens of adult dragonflies, as well as details of the jaws of their larvae magnified with the help of a binocular loupe.

As part of the exhibition, the audience will also be able to view the video work „Wings Over Waterˮ by Jelena Kovačević, created in collaboration with the entomologist of the Institute for Nature Conservation of Serbia, Aca Đurđević, who is a professional collaborator on this exhibition. In addition to the conversation with the entomologist, the video follows his field research on the natural habitats of dragonflies.

After touring the exhibition, the gathering continues in the city.

Gathering at 12:30 PM - in front of the Gallery of Science and Technology of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (Đure Jakšića 2)
