On Saturday, February 7, 2026, at the Jewish Cultural Center from 7:00 PM at the Mocaš Club, film lovers will have the opportunity to enjoy a special atmosphere of the Cafe Cinema.

In collaboration with the Embassy of Israel, we will present the multiple award-winning Israeli film „Human Resources Manager (2010) directed by Eran Riklis. The screenplay was written by Noah Stollman, based on the novel „A Woman in Jerusalem“ (A Woman in Jerusalem) from 2006, by author A. B. Yehoshua.

The film follows the story of a human resources manager of a bakery (unnamed, like most characters in the film) who reluctantly travels to Eastern Europe to return the body of a deceased former employee, a recent immigrant to Israel, to her family. In doing so, he attempts to prevent a PR disaster for his company.

The first half of the film is set and filmed in Jerusalem, while the second half was filmed in Romania, although the name of that country is never explicitly mentioned in the film.

The film premiered at the International Film Festival in Locarno, where it won the Audience Award. It also received five Ofir Awards (Israeli film awards), for: Best Film, Direction, Screenplay, Supporting Actress (Rozina Cambos), and Music.

The film was also selected as the Israeli candidate for the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film at the 83rd Academy Awards, but did not make it to the shortlist of nominees.
